Frequently Asked Questions

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is a philosophy of health care that emphasizes taking personal responsibility for one’s health and building a cooperative relationship between client and practitioner. It emphasizes evaluating the whole individual, including all the factors that influence their state of health (emotional, physical, nutritional, environmental, genetic, and spiritual). By finding the root cause of imbalance in the body, the client and practitioner can work together to correct those imbalances to promote health and well-being to their fullest. If we understand what caused it, we can begin to address it.

What is a Functional Medicine Academy Certified Coach?

A Functional Medicine Academy Certified Coach (FMACC) is a health coach trained in the principles of functional medicine, specializing in holistic health and wellness coaching utilizing advanced lab tests. This certification equips coaches with the skills to support clients in identifying and addressing the root causes of health issues through personalized lifestyle and nutrition strategies. In other words, they examine the whole person and make health recommendations accordingly.

What is an Integrative Health Practitioner?

An IHP© practice is based on ‘7 Integrated disciplines’ of natural healing, combining elements of ancient Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine with Naturopathy, Eastern philosophy, Bioregulatory Medicine (the science of self-healing), and modern state-of-the-art Functional and Orthomolecular medicine. Using these modalities we can determine the underlying, root cause of external symptoms and address lifestyle issues that set the stage for chronic illness to develop and decide which healing modalities to use at what time and with which people.

Why should I come to you?

The great Dr. Edward Bach once said, "On a more general level, nutritional deficiency and body toxicity have been linked to all kinds of health imbalances: cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, low IQ, poor immune function, bowel disorders, depression, birth defects, asthma, allergies, violence, and on and on. Proper nutrition can prevent, improve, or eliminate almost any condition."

What kind of results can I expect?

That is a difficult question to answer. It really depends on a few factors: your current state of health, your commitment to taking personal responsibility and making changes, the lifestyle schedule you keep, and the type of results you are seeking. Your goals and results can be as big or as little as you want them to be. I will be there to guide and support you every step of the way in whatever it is you want to achieve.

How do you conduct your sessions?

I currently conduct all my sessions virtually after the initial consultation where we determine if I'm a good fit to support your health goals.

Is your service covered by insurance?

No, but most people find the personal relationship that develops with a Holistic Practitioner as well as experiencing markedly improved health to be extremely rewarding.

Can I use my existing labs?

Yes! Please send me your existing labs so we can include these in our initial assessment.

What kind of testing options are available?

Based on your symptoms, we will choose the necessary tests or lab work. The following are examples of possible options:

✔️ Stool analysis

✔️ Hormone analysis via urine

✔️ Test for candida or mold exposure

✔️ SIBO breath analysis

✔️ "Leaky gut" assessment

✔️ Allergies and food sensitivities evaluation

What's the difference between over-the-counter supplements and professional grade?

Over-the-counter supplements often lack quality control and testing. They frequently contain synthetic forms of nutrients, like vitamins, which are less readily absorbed by the body. Consequently, you may spend money on ineffective supplements. We strive to offer discounts on premium supplements to clients enrolled in our long-term programs.
